A Quick History of Digital Game-based Language Learning [Video]

Last year, I wrote an article for the IATEFL Young Learners & Teenagers (YLTSIG) newsletter C&Ts on the occasion of their 30th anniversary, looking into the history of game-based learning in ELT. I initially thought there would not be much history to uncover but was pleasantly surprised to  find research articles going back to the 1980s.

This video is a summary of GBL in ELT over the last three decades concluding with my thoughts on why there has never been a more exciting time for using digital games in language learning than right now.

Enjoy and please like the video, share and subscribe to my YouTube channel – there is more to come!
